TASFAM: A FIVE- YEAR PROJECT THAT WILL TRANSITION PEMBA FROM THE THEORY OF THE BLUE ECONOMY TO ACTION

For centuries, the ocean has been a source of food, employment, income, and trade for its residents. However, climate change, unsustainable fishing, and economic challenges have been threatening the stability of this crucial sector. In addressing these challenges, the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar—through the Ministry of Blue Economy and Fisheries, in collaboration with the World Bank—has introduced the TASFAM project. WHAT IS TASFAM? It is the Sustainable Marine Fisheries and Aquaculture Management Project (Tanzania Scaling-up Sustainable Marine Fisheries and Aquaculture Management).
